James Hetfield's Aquarius
The Aquarius is a coachbuilt custom owned by James Hetfield. Built by Rick Dore Kustoms, the flowing teardrop body is influenced by the 1938 Delahaye 165 Cabriolet, a work of the French coachbuilders Figoni and Falaschi. The body on the Aquarius was hand-formed by Marcel's Custom Metal in Corona, California. Made from aluminum sheet, the Aquarius features pontoon fenders, a DuVall style windshield, and a lift-off hardtop. In January of 2015, the car was first shown at the 66th annual Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California.
Donated to the Petersen Automotive Museum
In 2019 Hetfield donated the Aquarius and 9 other cars to the Petersen Automotive Museum where it will be displayed among other Metallica memorabilia. The Hetfield collection will go on display starting in February 2020.
