Award Winners
In 2025, the first Kustomrama Award was presented to the Sandberg family, whose contributions have been vital to the Swedish hot rod and custom car culture and scene. Their legacy began with Ewert and Astrid Sandberg, whose financial support and guidance laid the foundation for a passion that would span generations. In the second generation, Bo "Gamen" Sandberg emerged as a pioneer, inspired by American car culture during his early travels, he founded The Road Devils and later co-founded Yankee Custom Parts and the magazine Colorod. His younger brother, Sven Sandberg, who started modifying vehicles at a young age with the support of his lifelong partner, Maud, also played a significant role in shaping the culture. The third generation, represented by Lee, Leo, Joakim, and Carina Sandberg, continues to carry the family tradition forward. Looking to the future, 18-year-old “Jonte” embodies the promise of the next generation. Together, the Sandberg family epitomizes the spirit of "Keeping History Alive," ensuring that the rich heritage of custom car culture endures.[1]
