Dick Noble's 1932 Ford Roadster Dick Noble's 1932 Ford Roadster was known as one of Burbank's finest hot rods. The young So-Cal hot rodder bought the car as a coupe in 1938. He really wanted a roadster and ended up swapping bodies with a co-worker at Adel Aircraft. Joar Kristiansen's LeSabre In the early 1950’s Harley Earl’s lowslung LeSabre inspired an army of builders from all over the world. One of them was a teenager in Norway named Joar Kristiansen. Dave Stuckey's 1965 Pontiac Catalina Last year Larry Wolfe completed a five-year-long restoration of Dave Stuckey's chopped, channeled and sectioned 1965 Pontiac Catalina. This was Stuckey's personal driver, and he started the radical build when the car was just two years old.
05.01.2019 - Bill Carter Has Passed Away We are sorry to inform that legendary custom painter Bill Carter passed away yesterday. Bill was born in Hollywood, California. He grew up during the birth of custom paint and loved the smell of paint and lacquer. Larry Watson took him in under his wings and taught him a few more tricks before he went on to open up his own shop. 03.05.2019 - The Restored Golden Sahara Unveiled at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show In March of 2019 Goodyear and Klairmont Kollections unveiled the restored Golden Sahara II at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show. The restored version of the iconic custom featured translucent Goodyear tires. 02.25.2019 - Cody Burghdorf Completes the Krimson Kart Restoration Cody Burghdorf has just completed the restoration of Emory Ashpaugh's Krimson Kart. A restoration he started in 2016. The restored version of the car will make its debut at the 2019 Detroit Autorama.
Looking for Info: Art Lehner's 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe - The Blue Indigo In 1986 Terry Stoker of Ontario, California bought a Kandy Tangerine 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe from a fellow in Chino. While stripping the old hot rod for paint, old blue Metalflake paint was discovered, giving away clues about the car's rich history. Lost: Mel Gerrard's 1950 Oldsmobile 88 1950 Oldsmobile 88 restyled by Gil's Auto Body Works for Mel Gerrard of Whittier, California. Mel's Oldsmobile is a nice example of a mid-1950s moderately customized car. At the Ayala Brothers, the hood and deck-lid were shaved for most of its ornamentation, and an electric deck lid latch was installed. Looking for info: Bill Leslie's 1960 Ford Thunderbird - The Golden Gem 1960 Ford Thunderbird owned and restyled by Bill Leslie of Buffalo, New York. The car is also known as "The Golden Gem." According to the later owner Douglas Sills, the story he got when he bought it was that Bill's parents originally owned the car; "The car was built in New York and all the paperwork has New York addresses."
The Howard Miereanu Collection Howard R. Miereanu is a well known graphic designer. With degrees in industrial design & graphics from the Art Center College of Design, Howard’s experience is wide-ranging; from an exterior automotive designer at General Motors (1959-1963), back to Los Angeles he joined a local furniture manufacturer as head designer and created a line of office furniture, moved on to be Senior Partner at Advertising & Sons (a boutique advertising agency in Beverly Hills), and finally to owner and founder of HRM Graphic Design (a Woodland-Hills-based graphic design studio specializing in packaging, corporate ID). The James Handy Collection We are very happy to announce that a fraction of James "Jim" Handy's Photo Collection has found its way to Kustomrama. For Sale: Dave Jenkins' 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air Historic one-owner Alexander Brothers custom. September 19th, 2019 the Dave Jenkins Chevrolet will hit the auctions block. For Sale: Bob Huffman's 1965 Chevrolet Impala 1965 Chevrolet Impala owned and restyled by Bob Huffman of Norwalk, California. Bob bought the Impala brand new from Paramount Chevrolet in Downey, California in September of 1964. He paid $3100.00 for the car, took it home and started restyling it almost immediately. For Sale: Joe Wilhelm's Wild Dream Wild Dream is a show rod designed and built by Joe Wilhelm at Wilhelm's Custom Shop for John Hernandez. Built over a three year period, the wild rod featured a futuristic hand-formed aluminum body that was covered with 20 coats of purple metalflake paint.
Grand National Roadster Show 2019 The 70th annual Grand National Roadster Show was held January 25 - 27, 2019 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. Over 500 show vehicles competed for awards inside the Fairplex buildings. Another 400-800 vehicles joined the event Saturday & Sunday for the Grand Daddy Drive-In. A-Bombers Old Style Weekend 2018 The 22nd annual A-Bombers Old Style Weekend was held August 3-5, 2018 at Backamo Lägerplats in Uddevalla, Sweden. Coupe Devils Rod & Kustom Bonanza 2018 The 10th annual Coupe Devils Rod & Kustom Bonanza was held June 15-17, 2018 at Bruvollen in Blaker, Norway.
Lawrence Garrison's 1940 Mercury Convertible In 2011 Birger Meland of Lier, Norway bought Lawrence Garrison’s channeled 1940 Mercury from Pat Orosco in California. For a long time, the history of this old custom has been full of holes and rumors. In June Birger told us that he wanted to restore the car back to how it was originally built. We applauded the initiative and agreed to help him research the history of the car. Gil Ayala's 1955 Ford Thunderbird - The Wild Bird Gil Ayala's personal custom, a 1955 Ford Thunderbird, known as the Wild Bird, has been sold to Scandinavia. Gil's Thunderbird is one of the few known surviving Ayala Customs, and it is a great addition to the Scandinavian custom scene. The restoration. We followed the restoration of the car, and it's trip halfway across the world on Kustomrama. The Kustomrama Dream truck The Kustomrama Dream Truck is a tribute to the custom cars of the late 1950s. Being an admirer of Jerry DeVito's wildly restyled 1957 Ford Fairlane, that we all know as the Maze, Sondre Kvipt decided that he wanted to recreate this car as a Ranchero. The build was started in Oslo, Norway in January of 2014, lead by Sondre's brother Olav.
