The Flame was a custom car built by Tom and Dick Holynski of Lackawanna, New York.

Tom and Dick owned an AMC dealership on South Park in Lackwanna.[3] They started out with a Henry J chassis and added parts from nine different cars. The Flame was powered by a 1956 Packard V8 engine fit with dual four-throat carburetors. The dashboard was taken from a 1958 Ford Tunderbird. It was made narrow and deeper to fit the car. The instrument panels were custom-built, and Volkdswagen seats were cut down 6 inches. The exterior finish consisted of 30 coats of gleaming lacquer. In 1960, The Flame won first class in the Handbuilt class at the first annual National Champion Custom Car Show in Detroit.[1]

Still Around

In 2023, the car was owned by Al Webster of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. According to Robert Tindale, it was in a show condition.[4]
