A photo of Rod's roadster, taken at what appears to be the very first organized hot rod show in Sydney. Ray Ellis was about 13 years old when he took the photo, and he believes the show didn't have a name. The show was held on Military Road, Cremourne, a suburb on the North Shore of Sydney. 1932 Ford roadster owned by Rod Foote of Brisbane, Australia. Rod had previously built a Willys Whippet into one of Australia's first hot rods. In 1958 the roadster came up for sale. The car was originally a four-cylinder car. Rod told Unique Cars, "I used to get the really early hot rod magazines from America and I really wanted to build a car along the lines of what they called ‘dry lake’ racers. "[1]

The car was later sold to John Cowling.
