This year the Kontinetals Car Club Celebrated It’s 16th annual Lonestar Round Up on April 8th and 9th in Austin, Texas at the Travis County Expo Center. A show with small beginnings, now can only be explained as a sea of cars from all corners of the country and even attracts Hot Rod and Kustom enthusiasts from other countries outside of the states.[1]

Friday morning, April 8th the show kicked off at about 10 a.m. with lines of cars awaiting to enter the show. Live music being played through both days setting a good atmosphere for the spectators to enjoy the day. The Texas weather did not disappoint. The sky was clear and the Texas sun shined down on to the chrome on the classic cars that filled Travis County Expo Center. Cars filled the grounds almost flooding to the outside gates.[1]

The Lonestar Round Up organizers do a great job putting together a ‘Featured Registration’ area. An area dedicated to some of the more historically iconic Customs, Period Correct built Hot Rods, Survivors from the early days of Hot Rodding and cars that may have traveled a great deal to get to the show. The ‘Featured Registration’ area is in the grassy scenic area of the show, great area for photos to be taken. Also a group of nostalgia dragsters on display and occasionally the dragsters are turned on to have a little ‘crackle fest.’[1]

The show also has an indoor and outdoor vendor area that gathers vintage apparel and some of the greatest artists around in the car culture scene today. The Lonestar Round Up also hosts a great quality swap meet. The swap meet had tons of parts for sale for projects and even had project cars for sale. And of course full restoration project cars for those who get the Round Up High and get the confidence to finally make the decision of making a dream car a reality.[1]

Creating memories and having a great time at the Round Up with other automotive enthusiasts is just part of the experience of the show. The Kontintenals Car Club have done such a great job of hosting this show year after year its more than just a gathering for your Classic Car, your Custom, or your Hot Rod and checking out your neighbors car ; it’s a tradition. But one thing that makes the show so special is that the life of the show doesn’t end when the show’s gates close. The city of Austin is so welcoming to the show that the most popular attraction after the show is taking your car down to South Congress Avenue for a cruise. South Congress is a four lane strip located in the back of the downtown area and is blocked off in certain areas so that cars can cruise on thru the street with no problem. There was also the Hop Up Magazine party at the Austin Speed Shop. Murpho’s Rod and Custom hosted another great party worth visiting. The city was swarmed with vintage cars all over day and night for the weekend.[1]

It's one big party in Austin when the Lonestar Round Up kicks off. If you missed out this years show, mark your calenders for next year’s 17th Annual Lonestar Rod & Kustom Round Up; April 6 & 7th 2018. Visit www.lonestarroundup.com for more info on next years show.[1]
