1956 Chevrolet restyled by Cerny's Custom Shop for D'Amours So. Cal. member John Benson of Gardena, California. Up front, a new custom grille was made from cain-mesh metal trimmed with 1955 Dodge Lancer side trim. Side trim from a 1957 Chrysler Windsor was installed in reverse along the sides of the body. The body was nosed, decked and shaved for door handles. The hood was louvered as well. The front bumper was cut out, and the rear bumper was equipped with 1956 Chevrolet station wagon guards. The stock taillights were replaced by 1956 Buick Super taillights. The body was covered with 16 coats of copper-maroon lacquer before Dean Jeffries applied some contrasting scallops that enhanced the new lines of the car. The underside of the car and the engine were painted gold. Most of the engine accessories were chromed. The engine was a much modified 1955 Chevrolet Corvette engine sporting three carbs on an Offenhauser manifold. A LaSalle transmission was hooked to the engine. The upholstery was done in white rolled and pleated Naugahyde by Carson Top Shop. Deep-pile carpeting covered the floors and the trunk. The forward wall of the trunk was covered with white pleated Naugahyde. The spare tire was covered with pleated Naugahyde as well. Lakes pipes, 1957 Plymouth wheel disks, dual spotlights and a chrome-plated traction masters wrapped up the style.[1]
