Gary installed nerf bars up front on the rebuilt iteration of the roadster; "I took a plate of 3/8" S/S and had them carved-out by hi-pressure water jet using my template generated from pictures of the ones Gray Baskerville had on his '32's back in the '50s. Gray was a co-founder of the LA Roadsters. I attended a few of the club meetings in Van Nuys at a Ford dealership before having to join the US Army in 1964."Photo courtesy of Gary Priebe.

1932 Ford roadster owned by Gary Priebe of Monterey Park, California. Gary's roadster ran a 1956 Oldsmobile V-8 that was bored to 348 ci. The engine was hooked to a Packard 3-speed overdrive transmission and a 1956 Chevrolet rear axle. In 1962 Johnny's Top Shop upholstered the roadster in a white California-Roll style.[1]

Rebuild

In 2016 Gary finished a total rebuild of the roadster. The rebuilt version was painted black and blue. It was powered by a tri-power 327 Chevrolet small block engine with a T-10 four-speed and a 3:50, 9 inch rear axle. This iteration of Gary's roadster was upholstered by Armando in Santee. "The tear-drop valence at the back of the top was a nice touch, replicated by Armando from the original done by Johnny's Top Shop in ELA. The zip-in window appeared to be an original and was very fragile but I restored it and Armando used it." Gary also added nerf bars up front; "I took a plate of 3/8" S/S and had them carved-out by hi-pressure water jet using my template generated from pictures of the ones Gray Baskerville had on his '32's back in the '50s. Gray was a co-founder of the LA Roadsters. I attended a few of the club meetings in Van Nuys at a Ford dealership before having to join the US Army in 1964."[1]
