Olav's Mercury is built as a tribute to Jim Kierstead's 1939 Mercury Coupe. Jim bought and restyled his Mec after he got out of the Navy in 1945, and it is rumored to be the first 1939-40 Mercury Coupe that the Barris Brothers chopped. The build was completed in December of 1947 and wrecked only a few days after that. A tragic accident that totaled the Merc and took Jim's life. Photo courtesy of Jim Kierstead.
