A Rod & Custom Magazine photo taken during an outing of the Qualifiers. Steve Hudson believes the photo was taken in Big Bear, California. "The truck is Dad's 34 Ford. The photo was taken by him and sent to the magazine. He never heard anything more about it until sometime later when it appeared without attribution."

Long Beach Qualifiers was a car club located in Long Beach, California. In January of 2024, Steve Hudson told Sondre Kvipt of Kustomrama that the name "Qualifiers" was picked as the name of the club because, at least in the early years, you had to "qualify" with a certain minimum elapsed time at the drag strip. "When I talked to Dad (Don Hudson) about it, he didn't remember what that ET was, and apparently, the requirement was quietly dropped as the membership broadened to include more than just hard-core drag racers."[1]
