1931 Ford Model A Roadster owned and built by Ken Atkinson of Corpus Christi, Texas. Ken wanted a Hot Rod for both show and go! The roadster body was channeled to achieve a lower stance without loosing riding comfort. A 1932 Ford grille shell was set in front the five piece aluminum hood. The interior was done in white and blue upholstery to match the exterior. A 1940 Ford dashboard was cut down to fit and a Sun electric tachometer was mounted at the upper left of the dash. A hopped up 1953 Cadillac engine nestled between the A rails, equipped with 4 Stromberg 97 carburetors, Scintilla Vertex magneto, Howard F-5 camshaft and a Weber aluminum flywheel. The 391 cubic inch mill was mated to a Ford transmission with a Cragar adaptor. Ken won a new class D gas roadster record at the 1956 Bonneville National Speed Trials, running 153 mph. By 1957, the roadster was owned by Wes Bevly of Corpus Christi, Texas and fit with Oldsmobile Fiesta Hubcaps.[1]
