1950 Mercury restyled by Joe Bailon of Bailon Custom Shop in Hayward, California for Hank Barnum. The front on Hank's Merc featured a custom tube grille, molded grille shell, and a set of frenched 1957 Oldsmobile headlights. The shaved hood was fit with a airscoop, and had it corners rounded. The parking lights were molded-in. The front bumper was made from components from a 1955 Pontiac front bumper, and a rolled pan was fit in the middle. The rear bumper was the original 1950 Mercury unit, however, it was split as well and fit with a custom pan in the middle. The rear fenders were extended and reshaped in order to fit a set of 1955 Plymouth taillights, which were tunneled. The front fenders were extended a bit as well. The doors and trunk were electrically operated. The skirts were fit 1954 Mercury teeth. The car was painted Candy Red lacquer with gold scallops. Oldsmobile Fiesta hubcaps and dual spotlights wrapped up the style.[1]
