Göran Almen's 1936 Ford

1936 Ford cabriolet owned by Göran Almen of Sollentuna in Stockholm, Sweden. Göran is a Swedish hot rod pioneer. Göran's Ford did originally have the steering wheel on the right side.

In 1993 Ford Journalen did a story on early hot rod pioneer Janne Eriksson. According to that story, nobody had seen Göran's Ford since the 1960s. It was lost.

New facts about the car now have been found.

Göran Almén got he car from Lennart Djurberg for 200 SEK. It was called the 'Canada car' as the steering wheel was on the right side. Probably the car came from Canada. Lennart helped Göran to install hydraulic brakes, Scintilla magneto, three-carb manifold and Edelbrock heads from Bo Kasby.
Göran also changed to left-hand steering.

Later Göran sold the car for 5 100 SEK to Lasse Eklund. This was in August 1964.

Lasse further modified the car, painted it blue metallic with silver flake top, tuck-n-roll interior and seats from a Glas car found on a junkyard in Skarpnäck
Lasse moves to Ulricehamn but the car seems to have been shown on the first Hot Rod Show in Marmorhallarna 1965.
He sells the car in 1971 to an employee where he works.

In 1971, Jan Lanemo from Linköping buys the car for 10 000 SEK. It was in very bad shape so Jan tries to prepare it for sale by his car dealer company, Stjärnebergs Bilar.
It didn't got sold so Jan decided to tear down the car for a full restoration.
It was finished late 1972 and Jan was asked by the Sandberg brothers to show it on Hot Rod Show 1973 where he won price for 'Best Ford in Show'!

In 1997, Kenneth Wik from Torsås, near Kalmar, buys the car and restores it almost back to original. It is painted the stock color 'Washington Blue'.
Kenneth uses the car regulary to meetings and runs.
