Bob Mendoza's 1953 Oldsmobile

1953 Oldsmobile owned by Bob Mendoza. Bob was a member of the Embers of So. Cal car club, and his Olds was known as "Fool's Gold." Bob's Olds was nosed and decked and all door handles were removed. Solenoids were installed for opening the shaved doors, these were operated by a door opener button hidden under the front door on the chassis. Bob's Olds was painted with several coats of Brazilian gold lacquer by Joe Andersen of Joe Andersen's Custom Shop. Joe did also paint the name "Fool's Gold" in 2 inch white lettering on the rear fenders. The upholstery and package tray were done in alternating black and white tuck and roll. The dash had a Candy gold lacquer scallop centered on a white pearlescent lacquer background. Fool's Gold rolled on blackwall tires with chromed try-bar 14 inch spinner hub caps with a waffle iron background. Amber lights were installed under the front wheels to illuminate the hubcaps at night and the front end was lowered 2 inches.
