Joaquin Arnett's 1934 Ford 3-window coupe of San Diego, California was completed in 1951. Shortly after completing the build, Joaquin sold the coupe to Andy Granatelli.
Paul Schiefer's 1925 Ford Model T Roadster of San Diego, California. Schiefer was a member of the San Diego Roadster Club. He started racing his roadster in 1947, and it became one of the few cars campaigned on the lakes and the strips that, within a decade, saw its first-year top speeds on the dry lakes exceeded by its later 1/4-mile ETs. Sometime after 1951, Paul loaned his roadster to the Bean Bandits Racing Team, and Joaquin Arnett raced the car for a while. Joaquin was the one who made it into a rear-engine roadster.

The Bean Bandits Club started in 1949 as members of a club called the Cam Pounders. But this name would change in early 1951 to become the Bean Bandits. Many stories have been told as to where the name came from. Centered around the prominent enlistment of club members being Mexican, they were commonly called the Beaners. Which was a derogatory slur of the time, but these attitudes never stopped the Bean Bandits from doing what they did. Bandits derived from the varied antics that the club did.[1]
